Groundcover Plants

Ground covers are usually low-growing, often spreading plants that form a uniform layer of foliage when planted close together. Ground covers range from very low-growing plants that are just a few inches high to more shrubby types that are several feet high. With a broad array of colors and textures from which to choose, groundcovers can add beauty to the landscape, plus provide soil cover, retard weed growth, and protection from erosion or drought.
