Polemonium 'Heaven Scent' PP20214
Common name: Jacob's Ladder.
Zone 3 to 7.
Full sun to part shade, evergreen in warmer climates.
Plants reach 18 to 24 inches tall and 15 to 18 inches wide,
compact, upright, clump-forming perennial.
Growth rate: Moderate, a few self-sown seedlings may appear in the spring.
This lovely new Polemonium with nice clean foliage is the perfect accent for blue Hostas. It forms a ferny mound of green foliage that has deep purple-blue highlights from spring into summer. The foliage grows about 1foot tall and is topped by loose clusters of lightly fragrant, blue flowers in late spring.
This easy-to-grow perennial looks great in the middle to front of the flower border. It easily mixes with most other garden plants. Though most Polemoniums prefer afternoon shade, 'Heaven Scent' seems to be able to take a bit more sun than the others as long as a good supply of moisture is available.
Easy to grow, in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils in part shade to full shade. Prefers rich, humus, consistently moist soil. Polemoniums prefer a cool, moist environment with protection from afternoon sun. Foliage may scorch in too much sun. Deadhead to encourage late summer reblooming.
Attributes: Border plants, Cut flower or foliage, Mass plantings, and Specimen or focal point. Deer resistant.
