Damp Soil Tolerant

Due to shade areas, compacted soil, drainage or along waterways some areas remain wet or damp. When planting in soggy areas choose plants that are tolerant of such conditions, but remember - most plants, even those preferring a consistently moist soil, perform best with good drainage.

Areas that tend to stay wet can be turned into a landscape feature by growing plants that thrive in moisture. The following perennials can transform a problem area into a focal point in your garden.

Acorus, Asclepias, Athyrium, Carex, Dryopteris, Hibiscus, Iris, Ligularia, Lobelia, Matteuccia, Osmunda, Primula
