Chrysogonum virginianum 'Pierre'
aka Golden Star, Green and gold
Zone: 5 to 9.
Sun to Shade, usually requires moist soil in full sun.
Mature size: 3 to 4 inches tall; mat-forming with moderate growth rate.
Shiny, deep green foliage; with one-inch, star-shaped, yellow flowers. Flowers in spring, and sporadically throughout the summer, but not in the south. Semi-evergreen; low-growing plant similar in structure to Ajuga.
Green and gold will adapt to most soil conditions, if it is moist and well-drained. It is also sun tolerant, although partial or full shade is recommended in southern regions; not very drought tolerant.
A native groundcover ideal for the woodland garden, or as a border and tolerates limited foot traffic.

Planted these last summer and they stayed hardy and healthy through the winter and they are blooming and happy this spring. I'm thinking of ordering a few more, soon.
The Chrisogonum are well developed in their pots and arrived on time, well packed and in very good condition. I set them in their bed the next morning and they seem to be growing in well.
The plants arrived quickly and are all doing well in their new home. Plan to double the order.
My first experience with bloomindesigns.com was a complete winner. The price of the golden star was very reasonable. The plants were a nice size and in excellent condition. I will be a future customer.
