With their different sizes, hostas have a variety of uses in your garden. Hostas can be used as a specimen plant, serve as a background for other plants, edge a bed or be used as a ground cover. A hosta's eventual height (and width) will be influenced by all of its changing conditions, and larger varieties can take 4 to 8 years to reach mature size.
Hosta sizes are often categorized by the projected leaf height as a dwarf, small, medium, large, very large or giant. For your review, we have group them as small ( less than 16 inches),
medium(16 to 30 inches) and
large (over 30 inches) in height. Some hostas are listed in more than one group.

Hardiness zones 3 to 8.
General size of hostas shipped will be 1 to 2 eye divisions for sieboldianas and tokudamas, other varieties will often have multiple eyes. Click on Hosta Basics for more information.
