SOLD OUT for 2010 Gaillardia aristata 'Arizona Sun' a/k/a Blanket Flower
Zones 3 to 9. Part Sun to Full Sun. Mature height is 8 to 10 inches, 10 to 12 inches wide.
Compact perennial produces large three-inch flowers in mass. Striking mahogany-red blossoms have tipped edges of flame yellow. Deadhead occasionally will help produce flowers all summer.
Prefers average to poor, well-drained soils. Heat tolerant. Use in rock gardens, containers, as cut flowers and for a border.
From early summer, butterflies may also blanket the striking three-colored flowers which resemble the colors commonly found in Indian blankets. But, they get their name from how they use to blanket North America prairies with their blooms. This Native Cultivar can still be found in fields, prairies and into the Rockies. Completely carefree, Gaillardia aristata 'Arizona Sun' won the 2005 All-American Selections Flower Award and the Fleuroselect 2005 Gold Medal Award.
*Sold as a Flat of eighteen (18) plants in four (4) inch pots. Each Flat counts as one item when calculating shipping cost.
