Delosperma cooperi Common Name: Trailing ice pkant, hardy ice plant
Zones: 6 to 11;
Full sun and well-drained soil.
Succulent semi-evergreen, with cylindrical needle-like leaves; low-growing trailing groundcover. Showy purplish pink, daisy-like blooms from early-summer through frost. In autumn the leaves turn golden yellow with flushes of pink at the tips.
Mature height 3 inches, plant 9 to 12 inches apart.
Drought resistant, do not over water this plant from South Africa.
Attracts butterflies, deer resistant, drought tolerant.
Use as groundcover for rock gardens or for slopes, perfect for the xeriscape landscape. If planted in container use lots of sand and small gravel to insure good drainage. Hot, sunny conditions keep the flowers coming all summer long.
This plant is so cool, in the morning Delosperma is cold to the touch. Propagation from cuttings, division, or from seed.
