Mature size 24 to 36 inches height;
vigorous, mat forming shrub
spreads as stems root when they contact the ground.
Dark glossy green semi-evergreen, turns red-purplish in winter. Low growing, dense plant with arching branches. White fragrant spring flowers produce dark red fruit. Similar to bearberry cotoneaster except the flowers and fruit are formed in small clusters.
Care free plant is easily grown in well-drained soil. Extremely hardy, drought and deer tolerant.
Use in rock gardens, as a hedge, on banks and slopes as a shrub border, near walls for cascading effect, or for ground cover.
