Description
Buddleia 'Butterfly Heaven' PP19935 COPF
Common Name: Butterfly Bush, Summer Lilac
Zones 5 to 10;
Full sun.
Mature size 6 feet height, spreads 4 to 5 feet.

'Butterfly Heaven' PP19935 began as a seedling discovered by Adrian Bloom of the Blooms of Bressingham organization. It is a highly floriferous selection with a well-branched habit and very large, fragrant blossoms. In trials, the lilac purple flower panicles measured a full 12 inches long on the first round of blooms, followed by slightly smaller 8-10 inch panicles in late summer. The new foliage of this variety is silvery grey, while the mature leaves are green.

Just when we need a breath of fresh air in the late summer heat, butterfly bushes burst into bloom. At a time when many other plants are already spent, buddleias are just beginning their show. Their passive coloring and texture makes a wonderful backdrop for perennials, and you'll love the butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds that flock to their honey-scented blossoms.

Buddleias should be planted in a full sun location with fertile, moist, well-drained soil. Adding lime to the soil may result in increased growth and better floral quality. They are also moderately drought tolerant once established.

Since they frequently die all the way back to the ground in northern winters, it is best to cut back all of the old wood to about 12" in the spring. Doing so will result in more compact plants. They will quickly grow back to their normal height by fall and will flower just as prolifically in late summer since they bloom on new wood. You may notice that the flowers tend to be longer and deeper colored in cooler weather.

Buddleias tend to break dormancy late in the spring, so don't worry if you don't see anything happening with them when your other shrubs start to leaf-out. These are very durable and reliable plants.

Specifications
The Ellepot System is a method of growing in a ‘peat media’ filled paper tube. Ellepots are environmentally friendly and decompose in the garden.

An Ellepot is a root permeable, biodegradable paper sleeve, instead of plastic. It is beneficial to plant development as root system does not spiral, and natural root development is encouraged.

Guidelines for Handling and Transplanting Elle Plugs
1) We strive to send every Elle plug with sufficient moisture to last through shipping. Upon delivery of your order, inspect all Elle plugs for soil moisture.
2) Water any plugs that appear to be dry immediately. If the Elle paper is dry, then the plug is drying out. All plugs arrive with the addition of a wetting agent to facilitate prompt, even water absorption.
3) If the Elle plugs are to be held for a period of time before transplanting, check the plugs regularly to ensure they are evenly moist. Do not let plugs dry out.
4) Just before transplanting, re-check moisture level of all plugs scheduled to be transplanted. Ensure that plugs are thoroughly moist.
