Perennial Plant of the Year 2002.
Prefers moist but well-drained soil. Erect 36+ inches tall perennial with opposite leaves. The glossy leaves are thin with bristly hairs on the margins.
Months of enormous clusters of fragrant, bright white flowers. Panicles are 6 to 9 inches long and 6 to 8 inches wide, with 1 inch diameter florets.
If planted in full sun, organic matter and extra water may be needed in summer months.
Deadheaded plants will flourish into early fall. Attracts birds and butterflies. Divided every two to three years to maintain vigor. Resistant to powdery mildew.
A garden mainstay, excellent for perennial borders, mass planting, corners and for cut flowers. Native from New York to Georgia, and west to Arkansas and Illinois
