Coreopsis, or tickseed, is a garden favorite because of its daisy-like flower, extended bloom season, and long stem fresh cut flowers. This adaptable and durable relative of the sunflower is easy to grow, pest resistant, drought and soil tolerant.
Perennial (and Annual) varieties come in various shades of yellow, dark gold, almost orange, variegated and now pink. Coreopsis species heights range from less than 1 foot to almost 4 feet.
They perform best in full sun, in the flower bed or as container plants.
Do not be afraid to sheer plants back after flowering, new growth should be vigorous and its the easiest way to deadhead. Propagate vegetatively rather than by seed to ensure true identity, besides birds will enjoy the seeds.
