Low-growing herbaceous perennial forms a low cushion of evergreen leaves.
In early to mid-spring, vibrant rose pink blossoms cover loose spreading rosettes of small, grayish-green leaves. Fragrant, four-petaled, flowers borne on elongating racemes extend above and cover the foliage. Plant is typically 8 to 12 inches tall when in flower, otherwise a sprawling mat of foliage up to 6 inches high.

Grows best in average, dry to medium moisture, well-drained soil. Good drainage is important. Shear them back to retain the compact form, promote denser foliage and to a straggly appearance with the onset of summer heat. Intolerant of high heat and humidity.
